Prayers for Military
Prayers for Military may be said by the soldier, or for the soldier. Most of the prayers are in the first person, but may be changed by replacing the word "I" with the name of the soldier.
For example: "Lord, protect me from injury" may be changed by saying, "Lord, protect John from injury," etc.
Our research has turned up a powerful Letter of Protection dating from 1724 which was said to safeguard the wearer from injury when worn in a pocket. This letter was reportedly discovered in Europe in 1724, written in gold lettering. It disappeared for several years but then resurfaced in 1791. It was later worn by military troops from Pennsylvania during World War I. A Letter of Protection, to be carried in a pocket "In the name of God the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost: As Christ stopped at the Mount of Olives, all guns shall stop.
