A Parent's Prayer in a Time of War

Dearest Lord,
We pray that you shine your grace and light on our children who are far away in distant lands.
They have accepted the burden of service to which you called them.
Please help them to see your grace that abounds even in this broken world, and ease their stress and hardships in this time of war by helping them remember your great love for them.
We pray your blessing, your peace and most of all the comfort of your presence, as we all seek to do you will.
I pray today in particular for David, who has been injured in battle in Afghanistan, and for his parents John and Pam, and for all of us who need your strength and courage. I also pray for my own daughter who is in Kandahar.
