US$ 250,000 for the Summit Foundation (SUFO) this 2012

We practically had nothing, no office, no furniture, no money, but I had the idea which was planned to help people fight poverty and injustices, as they return home from Internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. What happened, I had to donate my personal items and sacrificed my little meager income to rent the office and put up furniture and coordinate activities. Getting donors has been a hell on us. We managed to secure partnership of a few organizations who sub-contract us, but these are for a specific short term periods. I have never given up. We registered the organization and created a website. God willing, we got a small grant from United Nations Population Fund to sensitize local people of Acholi in Northern Uganda on the "World at 7 billion people" campaigns, which ended on October 31, 2011. Since then, we have tried to secure new funders, but has not been that simple, and I can confirm to you that we have not yet received any communication from a willing donor. Our worries is that our worthy charity risks being shut down due to lack of funds and many important activities which were designed for the Strategic Plan period of 2012-2015 risks being suspended. These key programs are: a) Agricultural livelihoods and consumer empowerment; b) building local democracy; c) policy research, analyses and advocacy; and d) human rights awareness, documentation and litigation. We appeal for your urgent help, and we pledge to provide this forum or any donor who has supported us with any donation amount towards achieving the vision of SUFO, with regular reports of how his or her money is working and helping people in need in the northern Uganda.
