When The Heart Is Heavy for Home - A Soldiers Prayer
(Las Vegas, NV)
Our Father in Heaven,
As I arise and greet another new day
I thank you for allowing my feet to hit the dirt,
and for opening my eyes once again.
But, Lord, home is heavy on my heart today.
I can't get my wife and children off my mind...
touch their life today and let them know
I love them and have given them over
to your care.
And Lord, my heart is heavy for my own well-being.
Remind me through your word, and through the lives
of my fellow soldiers, that my soul is more valuable
in your eyes than ten thousand earths. Remind me
as often as necessary how you protected your
people while in the desert, after leaving Egypt.
Remind me how you sheltered and fed them, and
kept them from countless things that would harm them.
And Lord, guide our national leaders--from our President
through the ranks to each Private. May we lift our eyes to you in our times of danger and in times of ease and not forget who has placed a hedge around us this day.
Thank you, Lord, for being near. Thanks for listening
to a rag-tag soldier.
Thank you, Jesus.
